Pictures 6 thru 16 were taken at Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum in Cincinnati, Ohio. Chartered in 1845 with 400 active acres , and with a population of 200,000 graves it is one of the largest in the U.S. Its founders were committed to maintaining the landscape--a radical idea in the 1800's--which resulted in one of the most magnificent examples of landscape architecture in the country. These Thuja Plicatas (Western Red Cedar) I understand were planted in the 1800's. Green Giant differs in that it is a hybrid and grows much faster. |
