Leyland Cypress is a plant
that creates fast, vertical, beautiful year round privacy and
screening. Since the mid 1970's it has changed the landscape of the urban
south and south-eastern United States. Leyland has been the most important
screening and hedging evergreen in these areas since then. However, since
1994 growers all across the South have experienced increasing foliar damage
and death to their Leyland Cypress.

Thuja "Green Giant"
has been tested by the U S scientific community since 1967, including the
USDA US National Arboretum, and various Universities and Botanical Gardens.
So far no insect, disease or blow-over problems have been reported. Green
Giants grow well in zones 5 to 8 and possibly in zones 4 to 9.
